Cathédrale Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Nantes, Nantes, France

IMG_3009

While living in France I often liked to visit various cathedrals and just go inside and site down. I liked to take in the history, the tragedy and the love. The Nantes Cathedral is quite impressive and certainly worth a visit. It is a Roman Catholic cathedral that was started in 1434, although it took 457 years to complete! It is an incredibly tall cathedral with the towers reaching 192 ft (63 m) ! In 1972, there was a tremendous fire that swept across the roof inflicting serious damage, thus the church has been somewhat rebuilt since. They were actually still working on it when I was there! Always something to fix I suppose. Oh and a litte fun fact- Nicolas Fouquet was once arrested on the front steps under the order of Louis XIV!! Enjoy and safe travels! ~B
